Hygiene Team Leader
Are you ready to step into a supervisory position where your dedication to detail and compliance directly impacts the quality of premium products?
We are looking for a Hygiene Team Leader to direct and manage the Hygiene Team, meticulously scheduling work, and ensuring all cleaning protocols (SOPs) are effectively executed. This role involves continuous improvement of cleaning methods across the manufacturing system to maintain the meticulous standards required for our premium skincare production during a period of rapid growth.
For this opportunity, we are offering up between £30,000 - £34,000 depending on experience. Working Monday to Friday onsite.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Training
Team Management: Lead, motivate, and manage the daily activities of the Hygiene Team, efficiently allocating tasks and resources to meet cleaning schedules.
Training & Coaching: Conduct initial and refresher training for all team members on cleaning techniques, safety, SOPs, and the safe use of chemicals and equipment.
Quality Monitoring: Monitor the team's work quality and efficiency, providing direct coaching and feedback to ensure consistent adherence to the highest standards.
Compliance & Documentation
SOP Ownership: Take full ownership of all cleaning-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Draft, review, update, and implement SOPs in collaboration with the Quality Assurance (QA) Department to ensure accuracy and GMP compliance.
Auditing & Reporting: Oversee and audit the completion of all hygiene documentation (logs, checklists, sign-offs), ensuring they are accurate and completed promptly.
Deviation Management: Act as the first point of contact for hygiene deviations, initiating corrective action and reporting findings to QA and Manufacturing Managers.
Operational Execution
Sanitation Oversight: Undertake and supervise the cleaning and sanitation of production areas (floors, walls, surfaces, machinery, vessels) to prevent cross-contamination and ensure operational readiness.
Chemical Control: Oversee the safe storage, handling, preparation, and control of all cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, ensuring COSHH compliance and maintaining inventory.
Safety & Liaison: Ensure strict adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols (including PPE use). Act as the primary liaison with Manufacturing and QA teams to proactively schedule tasks and minimise production disruption.
Waste Management: Oversee the compliant management and disposal of all production and general waste materials (including hazardous waste)
Requirements:
Proven, extensive professional cleaning experience in a supervisory role within a GMP-regulated environment (e.g., Pharmaceuticals, Cosmetics, Food).
Advanced knowledge of industrial cleaning methods, disinfection practices, and the safe handling, dilution, and storage of a wide range of cleaning chemicals.
Solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles and the critical role of hygiene within a compliant manufacturing setting.
Demonstrated experience in writing, reviewing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the proven ability to train, motivate, and manage a small team effectively.
Extremely high level of attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation, team training, and effective liaison.
