Director of Education & Training – North America
Location: Hybrid with 2 days per week working from the New York Office.
Hours: Typical business hours with flexibility to respond on the retailer’s working hours and UK office hours when needed.
Employment Type: Full time.
Salary Range: $150,000-$160,000 base salary + discretionary bonus.
The Director of Education will lead the strategic development and execution of all educational initiatives for Medik8 North America. Reporting to the Head of Sales, you will be the "Voice of CSA," responsible for localizing our UK clinical heritage for the US and Canadian retail markets. You will build the training curriculum from the ground up for a field team of Sales & Training Executives (STEs), and ensure Medik8 is the most knowledgeable and confident brand on the floor.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Content Creation & Localization
The North America Retail translation of CSA: Translate Medik8’s "Vitamin C and Sunscreen by day, Vitamin A by night" philosophy into "retail-speak"—fast, results-oriented, and easy to memorize.
Curriculum Development: Create all localized training assets, including "Product Knowledge" (PK) decks, "Cheat Sheets" for the back-of-house, and customer-facing "Regimen Menus."
Video Content & Digital Learning: Script and produce high-energy, short-form video content for retailer’s internal digital learning portal, and oversee the development of e-learning modules using a pedagogical structure to enhance product knowledge, customer service, and social media skills for the field team.
Continual Improvement: Lead the continual review and process improvement of all training materials and programs, ensuring they are results-driven, interactive, and aligned with global brand strategy while considering local market and channel-specific needs.
Ensure all educational materials are compliant and localized for the Canadian market’s bilingual requirements.
2. Field Team Development
Train-the-Trainer: Conduct "Summit" style training sessions to ensure the field team is perfectly aligned on messaging, demonstration techniques, and store-level advocacy.
Coaching: Regularly join STEs on store visits to audit training effectiveness and provide "real-time" coaching. Develop tools and use data to assess training opportunities and improve sales force performance, focusing on artistry, selling behavior, and luxury service skills.
3. Retailer Relationship & Advocacy
Education Lead Partnership: Build strong relationships with retailer’s corporate education department to secure additional training "touches" (e.g., webinars, district meetings).
Gratis Strategy: Partner with the Commercial Planner to design and execute a highly strategic Gratis program that turns Beauty Advisors into personal brand advocates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Sales, Marketing, Global and Digital teams to ensure educational execution is perfectly synced with trade marketing, product launches, and digital consumer education strategies.
Project Management: Utilize strong project management skills and systems to manage and track all education-related projects and cross-functional deliverables, ensuring timely completion.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience: Substantial experience in Beauty Education, with a proven track record in a leadership role specifically supporting North America premium retailers (Sephora, Ulta, etc.).
The "Scientist-Communicator": You have a passion for skincare science (retinaldehyde, pH levels, encapsulation, stability, skin physiology) but the charisma to make it entertaining for a retail audience.
Agile Creator: You are comfortable working with global and local teams to gather all the knowledge you need to create compelling content.
Strategic & Analytical Thinker: Ability to analyze the business and identify new functional growth opportunities. Acute comprehension and successful implementation of principles of adult learning, instructional design, and learning analytics.
Global & Communicative: Possesses a global mindset and superior writing, communication, and presentation skills. Must demonstrate the ability to create educational content based on pedagogical structure.
Digital Savvy: Experience creating content for retail learning apps and social-style training videos.
Best of Both: You create compelling content that you bring to life and can effectively coach field teams to do the same
Travel: Ability to travel 30% in the field.
