Regulatory Manager
Medik8 is looking to hire a Regulatory Manager with solid experience in product regulation. This is a new position growing the regulatory function to support our global market growth, and subsequent increasing regulatory demands.
The Regulatory Manager will be the guardian of product compliance for our high-end skincare portfolio. Reporting directly to the Head of Product Regulations, this role will lead a dedicated team to ensure every product we produce meets stringent international requirements while maintaining the premium experience our customers expect.
The Regulatory Manager will be responsible for providing regulatory advice and guidance across the business, ensuring products meet regulatory requirements in all key regions Medik8 sells into.
This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week based at our Innovation Centre in Aylesbury and 2 days from home.
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Line Management: Directly lead, mentor, and develop a team of two Regulatory Officers and one Regulatory Assistant.
Workflow Optimisation; Oversee the team’s daily output, ensuring projects move from R&D to Global Brand & Regional teams and to market without regulatory bottlenecks.
Performance Tracking: Conduct regular 1-to-1s and professional development reviews to foster a high-performance culture.
Global Compliance & Strategy
Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the regulatory lifecycle for all new product launches (NPD) and existing formulations across key markets (UK, EU, US, China, etc.).
Claims Substantiation: Alongside the Head of Product Regulations, lead the Regulatory team to collaborate with the Product, Global Brand and Regional teams to ensure luxury marketing claims are both "on-brand" and fully substantiated by clinical data.
External stakeholders: Liaise with external consultants, safety assessors, laboratories and distributors to support compliance and regulatory activities globally.
Portfolio review: Lead the re-audit of the current product portfolio to ensure historic products continue to meet constantly shifting regulatory requirements.
Metrics & Reporting
KPI Management: In collaboration with the Head of Product Regulations, define and track departmental KPIs, including "Time to Market" for regulatory approvals and "First-Time-Right" rates for PIF submissions.
Executive Reporting: Prepare monthly compliance dashboards for the Head of Product Regulations, highlighting team capacity, project milestones, and potential risks.
Cosmetovigilance reporting: Deputising the report of serious adverse reactions to relevant regulatory authorities in connection with Cosmetovigilance requirements.
Manufacturing & Quality Liaison
Raw Material Scrutiny: Work closely with our Procurement, Sustainability and Formulation teams to review INCI lists, raw material specifications, and SDS documentation.
Horizon Scanning: Monitor emerging legislative changes (e.g., REACH, MoCRA, IFRA updates) collate reports and proactively brief the Head of Product Regulations on potential impacts to the business.
Provide Regulatory advice on internal Quality investigations pertaining to Cosmetovigilance adverse reactions.
Desired Skills & Competencies:
Solid experience in regulatory affairs preferably in cosmetics, ideally skincare.
Previous line management experience.
Experience reviewing, checking and approving cosmetic formulations to ensure regulatory compliance with all relevant safety standards.
Proven experience in complex claims, artwork and packaging compliance reviews ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements.
A combination of regulatory knowledge with commercial awareness and strategic foresight.
Experience building and maintaining documentation for cosmetic PIFs.
Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
A strong comprehensive understanding of global cosmetic regulations (UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia and other markets).
Familiarity with systems such as SCPN, CPNP, MoCRA reporting, Health Canada notifications and FDA Drug listing portal.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and scientific accuracy.
Proactive, collaborative, and capable to lead a regulatory team under guidance.
Knowledge of OTC SPF products in the US, Canada and Australia is desirable.
Degree in cosmetic science, Chemistry, Pharmacy or a related science field.
